Awakening of Insects — Born Hour
Awakening of Insects opens Mao month: thunder lore, clear yi wood, and the year's first loud spring turn.
Overview
Jing Zhe (惊蛰) is the Jie at 345° that turns the Month Pillar into Mao (卯). This is the practical second month of spring in BaZi.
Pentads: 桃始华、仓庚鸣、鹰化为鸠. Folk story says thunder wakes hibernating insects; the astronomical fact is simply the node.
Customs include 'pating the white tiger' and driving away pests (祭白虎、打小人). Charts do not read thunder as luck — month command is Mao wood.
Births after this exact instant belong to Mao month. yi wood is clean and upright here compared with Yin month's mixed wood-earth.
Phenology (three pentads)
Three pentads: peach blossoms; orioles sing; hawks are said to become doves.
Classical citation
Classical: all things emerge through Zhen (thunder) — hence Awakening of Insects.
Month command contrast
Month command: Mao (卯) opens; clean yi wood.
